The BEST writing ever is NOT from a blog.....

The best encouragement is from the Lord, His word. The bible.  It is not from my blog, or any other blog.  I do hope you are encouraged when reading my blog, but not by me.  My goal is to lead you to the Lord and His Word, not me.  I'd rather you read His word over my blog any day! The Bible is FILLED with such great love, encouragement, wisdom. It is the ONLY "self-help" book will ever need.  Don't get me wrong, I am glad you are here, humbled and appreciative, however, please know that I am not searching for followers or fans. The One you should be following is Jesus. I can help you find Him through HIS word, not mine.

In the Bible, God promises comfort to all who put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

When you are troubled...
~Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.~
Matthew 11:2

When you are lonely...
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you,  Yes, I will help you,  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

When you are anxious...
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

When you need strength...
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Corinthians 12:9

When you need forgiveness...
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1John 1:9

When you face trials...
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-4

When you are tempted..No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

When you need wisdom...
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

When you are afraid...
God is our refuge and strength,  A very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear,  Even though the earth be removed,  And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea
Psalm 46:1

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm  23:4

When you need assurance...
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
John 5:24

Wait on the Lord

If you are feeling weary or anxious or alone, remember to wait on Him.  He is ALWAYS with you and HE is faithful.  Whenever you feel doubtful, pray and seek Him, read His word. The most comforting friend is Jesus and He loves you so much!

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait on the LORD
    Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

A Humbling Moment...

Romans 5:6-8~For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us~

This humbles me so much. We are so ugly with sin, but Jesus died for us and loves us unconditionally anyway...
When I really sit and think about that, I am overwhelmed with just how much He really loves us and it is so humbling.  We are so consumed with the things of this world that we sometimes forget that it is only temporary.  How many of us would give our lives for someone else? Probably not very many of us. Especially if we thought we'd be giving our life for someone who is a liar, murderer, adulterer, thief or anything else we didn't approve of.  But Jesus died for us knowing  all we have done. He loves us that much.   What He asks of us seems like nothing compared to the price He payed for us.   Kind of makes you speechless, doesn't it?

Love without words

Did you ever do something so simple and get such a HUGE response from it? I have. I've been trying to show my husband just how much he really is loved and appreciated without just saying "I love you". He is newly saved and I have been praying for him to grow more in Christ and really become the spiritual leader of our home. 1 Peter 3:1 says~ Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the CONDUCT of their wives. I really started thinking about this verse. This is basically proving that actions speak louder than words. If we want our husbands to really see how Christ changes us, the best way to show him is to let him see the changes in us. So, instead of just telling my husband that I love and appreciate him, I started doing very simple acts of kindness to show him. First, I left a little card on his pillow before I went to bed. He works nights so I am usually in bed before he gets home. The card was very simple with just a few encouraging words for him. He woke me up when he found it and was just thrilled by it. He was appreciative of it and I could really see how much it meant to him. It just so happens that he had had a frustrating day at work which I didn't know. But the Lord knew. Then, Sunday morning I got up a few minutes earlier to pop some cinnamon buns in the oven before church. These are my husbands favorite. Nice and warm with cream cheese icing. I woke him up to get ready for church and told him they were in the oven and he stopped in his tracks to come hug me and told me he can't believe how blessed is to have me as his wife! All i did was take 10 minutes out of my morning to do something simple for him, and it really went a long way. I can see the Lord working in his life more and more every day. He was so moved by these simple things and it is really showing. Actually, in trying to encourage my husband, his reactions have been blessing me. I believe that is exactly how God intended marriage to be.

Remembering 9/11/01.......Pray for our country...

Remembering 9/11.....♥
Lamentations 3:20-23 (NKJV)
My soul still remembers
And sinks within me.
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

No matter who or what comes our way, even terrorists, OUR LORD CAN NOT be defeated! The saddest part about this day 10 years ago was not only were so many lives lost, but how many of them did not know The Lord?? After that tragic day, churches were overflowing with people. What happened since then? Is it going to take another devastation to SHAKE everyone up again? What happened was very real and so is what is still to come. 10 years later, people that were overflowing the churches have slowly stopped attending and life seems to be back to "normal". The reality is, we need Jesus 365 days a year! Not just when tragedy comes our way. IF we do not know The Lord and are not saved, we will be headed towards something much worse than what happened on 9/11.
I pray for each and every one of you reading this and for ALL people everywhere to give their lives over to Christ, for HE IS FAITHFUL and is IN CONTROL!

Leah

What will YOUR Epitaph say?

After yesterdays Sunday morning service, my husband and I were feeling very moved and wanting more. So, we decided, for the first time, to go to the Sunday evening service.  Well, the sermon was based on "Epitaphs". I had no idea what this was but the pastor explained that an epitaph is what is written on your tombstone after we die.  He went on reading some famous ones like George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, and then asked us what our epitaph would say. Not just what it would say, but what would it say if GOD wrote it about us? What would the Lord have to say about us? WOW! I still can't stop thinking about this.  If I were to die today, would the Lord have good things to say about me? The pastor went on to tell us about people in the bible that died and then what is says in the bible that God said about them.  It was very convicting. God knows everything about us, inside and out, what we say what we do and even what we think.   It made me want to work on myself and get to know the Lord even more.  Imagine your life being written about, but not just what you say or do, what you THINK as well.  Would you be okay with what JESUS has to say about you.  After all, it doesn't matter what man thinks or says about us after we die, but it matters a whole lot what JESUS thinks and says about us.  People worry so much about having a "good family name". But what about when we leave this world and meet out King? What will HE have to say? What about the name HE will give us? Isn't that more important?  Isaiah 62:2 ~And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name~

My first ever blog post

This is my very first blog post.  I didn't really know what blogging was all about and I'm still a newbie, but I really enjoy and am encouraged by other blogs that I read.  So, I decided to start my own blog in hopes of encouraging other woman and passing on the blessings I receive.  So, for my first post, I'd like to share one of my favorite verses from the bible that has been very true to me recently ~Proverbs 3:5-6~ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.~  AMEN! This scripture has really been weighing on me lately.  My husband and I moved to PA from NY about a month ago.  We prayed and prayed that the Lord would show us what He wanted us to do and we trusted Him because we know He has a plan for us.  Even though we may sometimes think we know best, the Lord quickly reminds us that HE knows whats best for us.  So, we packed up our things and started on a new journey.  The Lord has blessed us beyond what we could have ever imagined.  We prayed for a job for my husband, a place to rent that would accept dogs, a way to work it out with only having 1 car at the moment, and a church we can call home. Well, once again the Lord is faithful!! We have a wonderful 3 bedroom house that dogs are welcomed in with a big fenced in yard, a job for my hubby that is 6 MINUTES AWAY and will take care of us until I can find a job and get a car.  We found a church that we just love.  We have neighbors that are our age and also Christians.  We are so blessed and couldn't be happier.  It just shows that if you put your trust in the Lord and you pray and wait on Him to show you what HE has planned, everything will work out.  I know sometimes it is difficult when you don't know what lies ahead, but the bible says to TRUST in the Lord and the more we do this, the easier it becomes.  If you think about it, it's actually easier just to pray and trust the Lord rather than get all worried and worked up about things that, in the end, we really have no control over.  So, as you read this, if there is anything YOU are worried about or unsure of, just take a moment to PRAY and ask the Lord to help you understand what He has in store for you and to just have FAITH.  The Lord is GOOD and He will not let you down.
Pray about everything, worry about nothing.
Love through Jesus,
Leah
